About the hall

Set conveniently in the centre of the village, Whittle-le-Woods Village Hall is the ideal place to hold parties, functions, meetings and all types of events.

The hall, originally built as a chapel in 1840, and latterly used as industrial premises, has been magnificently transformed into a modern spacious room yet retaining all the features of a bygone age. A new oak floor has been laid which complements the queen post trusses in the ceiling. The modern lighting fitments give versatile lighting features which enhance the setting.

Richly upholstered stand chairs and modern folding tables enable over 100 place settings to be accommodated.
A sound system incorporating a double tape deck and a CD player has been fitted together with two radio microphones for personal address.
An induction loop has been installed to help those who are hard of hearing.
Display screens are available for those who require exhibition facilities and an overhead projector is on hand for other displays and presentations.
The Public Entertainment licence means that a whole range of functions can take place between 10am and midnight. A portable stage is available for concerts and theatrical productions together with lighting and mixer unit.

Users have available a modern fitted kitchen furnished with stainless steel food preparation units and a six element electric cooker with a large oven. A microwave, a refrigerator and an instant water boiler for hot beverages are also installed together with a dishwasher. Pans, trays and other cooking utensils are stocked to enable full dinners to be prepared on site. Crockery, cutlery and glassware is provided to enable 100 people to sit down to dinner in comfort.

The hall is ideally situated next to the children’s play area and is therefore well suited to accommodate children’s parties for the under 12’s. If the weather is good their energies can overspill from the hall to the play area where a slide, swings and other play equipment is available.

The hall is equipped with modern toilet facilities. Disabled facilities throughout the hall are in evidence.
A no smoking policy is enforced.

This hall is available for hire for £17 per hour. (Evening parties are charged at £20 per hour plus £100 deposit which is fully refundable provided there are no breakages or damage and the hall is left as found.

Use of cooker at a small extra charge.

IT Suite

The computer room is equipped with 9 computers with internet access and a printer. WiFi is also available. The room is for hire to relevant groups at the rate of £15 per hour.

Back Room

Due to the overwhelming demand for our facilities, it was decided to obtain funds to create a further room to the rear of the premises. This is now complete (March 2010) and is available for hire for £16 per hour or £20 per hour for evening parties.

This room has been designed with a more modern flavour than the traditional existing hall with contempory lighting and bright colours. There is a well equipped kitchen with tea/coffee making facilities , refrigerator, microwave and cooker. Similar tables and chairs are available for use together with a quality sound and lighting system.
